The Build

One of the Most
Storied Names in Muscle.

The ZR1 designation carries weight. In 1971, the Camaro ZR1 represented the pinnacle of what Chevrolet could put into a production car — a race-derived engine package that made most of its competition irrelevant. This build honors that history with the mechanical execution it deserves.

The engine was pulled, torn down, and rebuilt from the block up. Every wear item replaced, every clearance measured and set, every surface checked and finished. A Tremec 6-speed transmission was paired to the rebuilt engine — the combination that gives this ZR1 the driveability that the original factory spec never had.

The result is a 1971 Camaro ZR1 that drives the way the name always suggested it should. Not a trailer queen, not a static show piece — a car you point at a road and run. That's the Mayne Designs approach to a build with a name this good.
